Connexion is seeking submissions on the topic of EMBODIMENT, to curate content online that asks: what does it mean to be connected to one’s body? Deadline for EOI is March 13, 2019, 20:00 Toronto time. Deadline for submission is March 20, 2019, 20:00 Toronto time.
Submissions might include, but are not limited by, the following: Visual content (photographs, videos, paintings, drawings), written content (poems, op-eds, essays), audio content (songs, sounds, reflections). If possible, any written and audio content should be accompanied by an image.
Below are some guiding questions that we are interested in:
Can EMBODIMENT be transformative? What is the relationship between embodiment and trauma? How can connection to the body bring us together? What can awareness of our bodies teach us about ourselves? How is our understanding of embodiment limited and limiting? How can we reimagine the body? Is loving our own body revolutionary? When is the body public and when is it private? What is the relationship between someone else’s embodiment and our own?
As human beings, we operate and move through this world from within our bodies. Our bodies are our sensorial sensors and the root of all of our experiences and perspectives. Hence, we are all in-bodied, already and always - but how are we aware of it?
EMBODIMENT will examine the intricacies of connection to self and to the body, and dance with the question: what does it mean to connect to one’s own body? Further, what does it mean to connect to one’s own body in a world that has politicized, objectified, marginalized, and compartmentalized bodies? What does it mean to connect to one’s own body in a world where minds are idolized?
